High-efficiency modules with tripartite cells launched in Brazil

Sunova brings it to Brazil, with a launch to be held at the exhibition Intersolar South America, held from October 18 to 20, its new high-efficiency modules based on 210 mm tripartite cells. The manufacturers will exhibit the equipment at stand A1.30. Dividing cells into smaller parts is a strategy used by manufacturers to increase the efficiency of photovoltaic modules. Half-cell modules, with split cells, are already becoming increasingly common in the market.

The HI-KILO module family, manufactured with tripartite mono-PERC cells, achieves efficiency of up to 21,3% with its 410 W module. In Brazil, the 405 W module of the HI-KILO family will be sold, which is inserted in the list of products that receive the ex-tariff benefit.

In addition to the HI-KILO mono-PERC modules with tripartite cells, Sunova also intends to present at the Intersolar exhibition its mono-PERC half-cell modules with 182 mm cells (with power up to 550 W) and its mono-PERC bifacial modules with 210 mm (with power up to 600 W).

The novelty brought by the tripartite cell modules is the use of the half-cell manufacturing strategy (which increases generation efficiency) with 210 mm cell thirds. This makes it possible to manufacture high-efficiency modules with dimensions smaller than those of half-cell or full-cell modules with 210 mm cells. High-efficiency modules with small dimensions are ideal for rooftop applications.

New factory

Sunova will soon open a new manufacturing unit, equipped with technology to manufacture modules with 182 mm and 210 mm cells. The factory has officially been in production since mid-September. “We are very proud to announce that we have upgraded our factory and launched production equipment. The factory is equipped with leading international equipment from Autowell, XN and SC-SOLAR automation,” the company said in a statement.

Technology

Sunova continually invests in R&D (research and development) to seek to increase the efficiency of photovoltaic modules. Its main bets are the use of tripartite monocrystalline PERC cells and HIT (heterojunction) cell technology, which the company hopes to commercialize from 2023.

If it is cheaper than other solar panels it will be very good
