The performance of solar and wind power plants in July reinforced the leading role of Minas Gerais and Piauí in the country's renewable generation. The data, released by Datlaz based on information provided by the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE), shows that the two states had the best capacity factors in the month and signal relevant trends for investors and operators in the sector.
In the photovoltaic segment, Proton Energy's UFV Sobrado I, located in Bahia, led the ranking with a capacity factor (CF) of 31,08%. Minas Gerais placed eight projects in the Top 15 and consolidated its position as the most representative state in centralized solar generation. On average by state, Rondônia had the best performance (22,10%), ahead of Paraíba (19,00%) and Minas Gerais (18,35%).
The survey also highlighted the most frequent suppliers: modules from LONGi, GCL, and Canadian Solar, trackers from Array Tech (STI), PV Hardware, and Soltec, as well as inverters from Huawei and Power Electronics. Among the most active investors are Proton Energy, Newave Energy, Global Power Generation, Comerc Renew, and Astra Investimentos.

In the wind energy market, Piauí achieved an average capacity factor of 59,29%, surpassing Bahia (45,93%) and Pernambuco (45,78%). The best individual performances were recorded by the Santa Ângela 13 (PI), Oeste Seridó V (RN), and Ventos Santa Ângela (PI) plants.
Among wind turbine manufacturers, Vestas, Nordex-Acciona, and GE Energy dominate. Among investors, prominent names include Enel Green Power, Engie Brasil, Brookfield (Elera), and Contour Global.

Implications for the market
In Datlaz's assessment, the survey highlights the advancement of solar and wind power sources as pillars of the electricity grid, amid a more unstable hydrological scenario. Experts believe the consistent performance of these plants reinforces the attractiveness of renewable generation assets and the appetite of international investors in the country.
"By monitoring capacity factors month by month, it is possible to identify technological and geographic patterns that guide decisions regarding expansion and competitiveness in the sector," Datlaz highlighted in a statement.
