The national electricity load is expected to grow 3,8% this year, reaching 78.814 MWmed, representing an increase of 368 MWmed in relation to the previous forecast. This calculation takes into account an economic growth rate of 2% in 2024.

The information released last Friday (05) by CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber), ONS (National System Operator) and EPE (Energy Research Company) are part of the 1st quarterly review of load forecasts for planning of energy operations between 2024 and 2028.

For next year, it is estimated that the load on the SIN (National Interconnected System) will reach 81.274 MWmed, which will correspond to a growth of 3,1%, in line with a GDP of 2,2%.

In the four-year load view, an average growth rate of 3,2% is estimated, from 78.814 MWmed in 2024 to 89.257 MWmed in 2028. The average GDP growth rate is 2,5% in the period.

According to these entities, the projections consider a scenario of greater investment stimulus, with special emphasis on the infrastructure sector. The approval of the tax reform is also expected to generate positive impacts in the long term, although in a modest way over the analyzed horizon.
