After interruptions in the supply of electricity and blackouts in some locations on the northern coast of the state of São Paulo, the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) is monitoring and mobilizing actions to normalize the situation.
Consumers in the region are suffering from a lack of energy due to the heavy rains that hit the area in recent days. The main causes of interruptions are landslides and flooding that affected distribution networks.
According to the MME, the impacted areas involve concessions from Elektro and EDP and the companies have already been activated and have emergency teams mobilized and working in the region, with the monitoring of the MME and the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
In some locations, the restoration has already been carried out. In others, companies were unable to operate due to difficulties in accessing the locations or for security reasons, in areas protected by Civil Defense.
To the MME, EDP informed that it is working in partnership with the Civil Defense on an uninterrupted basis to meet the demands of the Municipalities of São Sebastião and Caraguatatuba and “normalize the energy distribution service as quickly as possible”, he highlighted in a note.
At the peak of the contingency, the company had 13,8 customers disconnected in the region. Of these, 4,7 have already been reestablished. Nine thousand customers still have their supply disconnected, of which 6,5 thousand are located in areas whose access is prohibited by Civil Defense.
Through the EDP Institute, the company is also donating mattresses, bed and bath linen, personal hygiene and cleaning materials to the affected municipalities.
Elektro reported to MME that it monitors 75 events in the Municipalities of Ubatuba, Ilhabela and Bertioga, which affect around a thousand consumer units.
“Teams are mobilized to promote restoration, with access being compromised in some locations”, he reinforced in a note.
The company also highlighted that it is in contact with local representatives to support requests and to send more teams to points where the situation could worsen. Access to work for the company's teams remains compromised, according to Elektro.
