EsIMEx (Army Military Intelligence School), located in the Urban Military Sector, in Brasília (DF), inaugurated its new photovoltaic solar plant this Thursday (31).

The project was made possible through a partnership between Neoenergia Brasília and the Ministry of Defense, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.

The initiative received an investment of over R$1 million, through the distributor's PEE (Energy Efficiency Program), regulated by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

With 600 solar panels and an installed capacity of 339 kWp, the plant is expected to generate more than 500 MWh annually – which should represent savings of around R$340 per year for public coffers.

In total, the energy efficiency projects developed in partnership between Neoenergia and the Army in the Federal District already total R$2,6 million in investments, with estimated savings of R$852 thousand annually.

"Together with the Brazilian Army, we are demonstrating that the energy transition is already a concrete reality, with economic, social, and environmental benefits for the entire population of the Federal District," said Frederico Candian, CEO of Neoenergia Brasília.

Advancement in the public sector

Since 2021, Neoenergia Brasília has been increasing its investments in energy efficiency, especially in the public sector. In solar energy projects alone, the distributor has already installed 17 photovoltaic plants, totaling 3,1 MWp of installed capacity.

The delivery of the new plant at EsIMEx also reinforces the entity's institutional commitment to the UN (United Nations) SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), especially SDG 7, which aims to ensure access to clean, reliable and affordable energy for all.
