SecPower expands industrialization in Brazil with a new lithium battery factory in Minas Gerais.

The 4.000m² unit has the capacity to produce approximately 24 batteries per year in one shift.

In August, SecPower began national production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries at its industrial unit in Cambuí (MG). Located in an area of ​​4 m², the factory has a production capacity of up to 396 MWh per year, equivalent to approximately 24 batteries, depending on the configuration of the manufactured products. 

The expansion is part of the vertical integration process initiated by the company in 2024. The company, which already supplied and integrated batteries and BESS systems, will now incorporate the national production of batteries into its engineering, installation, and technical support activities.

The batteries utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology and can be used in storage systems, telecommunications, and projects related to solar power generation. 

The new operation marks a strategy of industrialization and vertical integration for SecPower in Brazil. The company will now bring together local production of lithium batteries, manufacturing of electrical panels, manufacturing of BESS sheet metal and electrical panels, engineering, systems integration, installation, activation, and technical support, expanding its capacity to deliver complete energy solutions for different markets and applications. 

“The new line represents a step in SecPower's industrialization process. The goal is to combine battery production with the engineering, electrical panels, and services necessary to integrate storage into the infrastructure of each operation,” says Gabriella Reigada, CEO of SecPower.

Minas Gerais and the advancement of energy storage.

The installation of the unit in Minas Gerais also brings SecPower's production closer to one of the main centers of solar power generation and industrial activity in the country.

In the PAR/PEL 2024 planning cycle, the National Electric System Operator (ONS) identified approximately 16,6 GW of solar photovoltaic generation in operation or with signed contracts in the state, considering installations connected to the Basic Network and Other Transmission Installations.

In micro and mini-distributed generation, Minas Gerais registered approximately 5 GW of installed capacity, with projections to reach 10,6 GW by 2030.

The advancement of renewable energy generation and the challenges associated with balancing generation and consumption increase the relevance of storage systems, which are capable of shifting energy between different times of day and expanding the flexibility of the electrical infrastructure.

“Our industrial presence in Minas Gerais brings us closer to a market that combines renewable energy generation, industrial activity, and a growing demand for storage solutions. We don't just want to supply the battery, but to participate in the integration of the complete solution, including panels, control, engineering, and field services,” adds Gabriella.

The Brazilian market enters a new phase.

SecPower's expansion of industrial capacity comes at a time of accelerating energy storage projects in Brazil.

According to the Energy Research Company (EPE), the 2026 Storage Capacity Reserve Auctions received registrations for 6.091 projects, totaling 296.807 MW of power.

The guidelines established by MME Normative Ordinance No. 136/2026 include one auction for storage systems with national content and another for systems that may use national or imported equipment.

In this context, SecPower structured its operation to serve projects of different sizes and configurations, combining local industrial capacity and engineering with technologies and components supplied by international partners, according to the requirements of each project.

“Energy storage is entering a new phase in Brazil. We are building industrial capacity, technical knowledge, and technological partnerships to keep pace with this transformation. We believe that the development of a competitive local supply chain will be increasingly important for the sector's growth and for the country's energy security,” says Gabriella Reigada.

Experience in projects

Before starting production in Cambuí, SecPower was already involved in the supply and integration of batteries and storage systems.

According to company data, more than 11,5 batteries have already been supplied for telecommunications projects, in over 500 sites distributed across 15 Brazilian states, with a nationwide installation network. The company also has BESS systems installed in industrial operations, charging stations, rural properties, and cold storage facilities.

The projects include applications such as backup power, demand management, shifting consumption to off-peak hours, integration with solar generation, and reducing or replacing diesel generators.
