Sofar has announced a significant upgrade to its inverter line: overload capacity has been increased from 50% to 70%. This change will allow the equipment to handle higher input power than its rated power, providing greater flexibility and efficiency for users.
“For example, previously, an inverter with a nominal power of 5 kW could operate at up to 7,5 kW due to a 50% overload. With the new 70% limit, this same equipment will be able to support up to 8,5 kW, allowing the connection of more modules and optimizing performance,” explained Yghor Corrêa, Key Account Manager at Sofar in Brazil.
According to him, this improvement was possible thanks to extensive tests carried out both in China and in Brazil, using 180/210mm cell panels, which are the most commonly used on the market. "The results confirmed that the inverters were already capable of operating at this new level, which led the company to officially adjust the specifications in the datasheet."

The update does not affect the inverter warranty, which remains at 10 years, nor does it compromise the performance of the equipment. Sofar guarantees that the robustness and quality of the inverters remain unchanged, now offering even more possibilities of use to meet different needs and expand the offer of kits and solutions for customers.
According to Corrêa, this change represents an important step forward for the manufacturer, which is always seeking to improve the user experience and adapt its products to the demands of the photovoltaic market.
Importance of change for the customer
The change in the overload limit of Sofar inverters, from 50% to 70%, is a significant update that brings numerous benefits to customers. According to the company, with this new capacity, users can maximize the use of solar energy generated without the need to purchase new equipment.
This flexibility also allows the performance of the photovoltaic system to be optimized, providing greater energy efficiency and, consequently, a better cost-benefit ratio.
