The Goiás Health Department reported that it authorized the donation of electricity credits to the State's Cora (Oncology Reference Complex), enabling an initiative that combines solidarity and distributed solar generation.

The formalization took place this Tuesday (15), with the signature of the Secretary of Health, Rasível Santos, and the engineer Gustavo Ferreira, vice-president of Aced (Civil Association of Democratic Energy) – the entity responsible for the donation.

The process was supported by favorable technical and legal opinions from the State's Infrastructure, Planning and Cost Management departments, in addition to validation from the Sector Attorney's Office.

By donating these credits, Aced allows Cora to use the resources to reduce its electricity costs – one of the main operating costs of the hospital units in the region. Status, mainly due to the use of highly complex equipment and the need for constant air conditioning.

"This transfer of resources frees up Cora to invest more directly in treatments, equipment, and care for cancer and radiation therapy patients, benefiting the population of Goiás," says Thalles Paulino de Ávila, Superintendent of Integrated Management at SES-GO.

The process now moves on to final steps with the Pio XII Foundation (Cora manager) and Aced, to complete the transfer of credits.

Cora

Cora is a public hospital specializing in the treatment of cancer patients, serving as a reference for oncology and radiotherapy in Goiás and the entire Central-West region, managed by the State, in partnership with the Pio XII Foundation (the same sponsor as the Hospital de Amor de Barretos).

The health complex was created to expand access to free, quality cancer treatments, reducing waiting lists and preventing patients from having to travel to other states to seek treatment for the disease.
