Brazil created 153 thousand jobs in the solar energy sector in 2021, which corresponded to an average of 419 admissions per day, according to calculations carried out by Canal Solar based on a survey of ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association).
This is an increase of 77,9% in relation to the jobs accumulated in the country in 2020, when 86 thousand hires were recorded, an average of 238 per day. Since 2012, the solar source has been responsible for generating more than 390 thousand jobs in all regions of the country.
According to a Gustavo Tegon, co-founder of Esfera Solar, a Brazilian distributor of photovoltaic kits, the increase in the number of jobs is directly linked to the natural growth of the source, which has gained space in the energy matrix and forced companies to increase the number of employees to meet operational demands.
“We have been tripling the number of employees since our founding and the tendency is for the size of the company to double by the end of the year. We also developed the engineering department to better serve our customers. The hires were important to accelerate sales and other areas, such as technical support, finance and marketing”, said the executive.
Carolina Turganti, was one of the professionals hired by Esfera Solar to work in the company's sales sector in June last year. “In March I completed three years of experience in the sector and my hiring at Esfera Solar It happened at a very important moment. I joined the company at the beginning, when we had 7 salespeople. Today, less than a year later, I lead a team that already has 21 professionals,” she said.
In a recent interview with Canal Solar, Rodrigo SauaiaCEO of ABSOLAR, said that in a country with a high employment deficit, such as Brazil, investing in solar energy is one of the most viable alternatives to help the economy recover. “In addition to providing clean and competitive electricity, it is a source that helps attract investment and generate quality jobs for the population in the municipalities,” he said.
Investments
In addition to the jobs generated in the country, the survey of ABSOLAR shows that the solar sector attracted more than R$21,8 billion in investments last year, including large plants and generation systems on rooftops, facades and small plots of land. The result represents a growth of 49% in relation to the accumulated investments up to the end of 2020.
In total, the sector has already generated more than R$66,3 billion in business since 2012. In terms of operational capacity, Brazil today has more than 13 GW of power, adding centralized and distributed generations, which already represents almost the same power installed at the Itaipu hydroelectric plant, the largest in Brazil and second largest on the planet.
