Apofilab (Association of People with Cleft Lip and Palate), located in Cascavel (PR), is among the entities that have received funding from Itaipu Binacional for social projects in Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul. The institution received funds to improve the structure offered to patients and their families.

The project, called "Generating Energy to Promote Smiles," includes the installation of solar energy and the expansion of the institution's headquarters, which serves people with cleft lip and palate from Cascavel and the surrounding region.

The institution, which supports around 150 children from Cascavel and the surrounding region, received funding for the installation of a solar energy system and for the expansion of its headquarters.

According to the pedagogical director of Apofilab, Sônia Maria Jimenez, the investment directly contributes to strengthening the services provided by the organization and improving the structure available to families.

The transfer is part of the actions of the Social Responsibility Superintendency of Itaipu Binacional, which brought together entities that have already received funding and institutions interested in receiving new resources.

According to a report released by Itaipu, in the last three years the resources transferred by the company have reached approximately 2,6 entities in Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul, with approximately R$ 500 million allocated to these initiatives.

The funds disbursed ranged from R$100 to R$800, depending on the characteristics of each project. This year, according to the company, more than two thousand new entities registered and approximately 1.250 were selected.
