The MFS (My Solar Financing) revealed that, in the second quarter of this year, approximately 48% of credits released were intended for class C customers.

This percentage represents a increase of three percentage points in relation to the same period in 2023, highlighting the crucial role of financiers in the democratization of access to photovoltaic energy in Brazil.

Financing has proven to be an essential tool for consumers with lower purchasing power to install photovoltaic systems in their homes. Classes D and E, for example, together received 11% of the credits granted by the MFS between April and June this year.

However, it is not just the lower classes that turn to solar financing. According to the MFS, classes B and A represented, respectively, 38% and 7% of credits released in the period.

“In addition to the constant drops in the Selic rate since the middle of last year, which made the cost of credit more attractive for Brazilians, the final price of solar energy equipment itself had a reduction of around 40%, which further boosted the new facilities in Brazil”, explains Carolina Reis, director of Meu Financiamento Solar.

According to a recent survey by the consultancy Greener, around 53%* of photovoltaic kits sold in 2023 were acquired through financing. In addition to MSF, institutions such as Santander, Losango, Banco do Brasil, BTG, among others, also offer credits for distributed solar generation.

Correction: Initially we published that around 36% of the kits were sold through financing. Corrected information.
