The Intersolar South America 2021 fair featured the presentation of many new products in the storage segment and inverters with higher power, multiple MPPTs (Maximum Power Point Tracking) inputs and equipment with DC coupling.

This latest technology means that the energy generated by solar panels does not necessarily need to be converted into AC (Alternating Current) and later into DC (Direct Current) again in order to recharge the batteries.

This can bring greater efficiency to the process as a whole, in addition to allowing, for example, the energy that would be wasted in “clipping” the modules to be directed to the battery, thus increasing the total amount of energy that can be used by the grid and the inverter. .

Among the products with these characteristics mentioned is the large capacity inverter from the manufacturer Sungrow. The equipment has 350 kW of power and can store energy from panel clippings in a battery. Another example of a solution that meets these characteristics is the new Fimer inverter, aimed at the micro and mini solar generation segment.

The equipment was developed to manage multiple energy sources. The system has four inputs: one for connecting a network or generator (both can be done at the same time), for the AC network (in which a wind generator can be installed); for photovoltaic systems (with two independent MPPTs) and one more for the 48 V battery.

In total, the equipment has two operating modes: one in which it is possible to export energy to the grid via both photovoltaic systems and batteries. The other mode characterizes a micro grid network, which may or may not be connected to the grid (On Grid and Off Grid system).

Storage

Manufacturers and distributors presented banks with batteries and solutions, both for storage and more advanced technologies. Among the companies that presented solutions is Brazilian manufacturer Moura, which recently entered the solar energy sector.

The company brought lithium batteries to the event, designed to serve various electrical supply sectors. The technology can accumulate energy generated during the day, precisely during the period when it is cheapest and is distributed at specific times. The battery also serves as a type of support when the installation's power goes out, which increases safety during supply.

In addition to this, another product that also stood out in the battery segment was one of Tesvolt's products, presented at the SMA stand. It is a scalable solution that can be applied from medium and small to large installations.
