O HELP (Teaching Hospital and Research Laboratories), located in Campina Grande (PB), has invested around R$50 million in solar energy projects and ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) initiatives since 2023.
The hospital received the installation of four of its own solar plants, which serve 100% of energy demand, and have already secured more than 500 thousand in savings, which were allocated to improving services provided by the SUS (Unified Health System).
Eric Roberto, one of the project's architects, states that “every decision to define the design had sustainability as one of its essential pillars, from the choice of materials to the use of natural resources”.
In addition, the institution has integrated internal gardens into its infrastructure that provide natural lighting and ventilation, which were developed to optimize energy resources. Air conditioning is provided by a water-based cooling system, eliminating the need for traditional air conditioning.
A rainwater collection system was also implemented, with a 250-liter reservoir, which is used to irrigate gardens and clean external areas, enabling a 25% reduction in the consumption of treated water.
HELP receives 60% of its services from the SUS and 40% from private services. “We are on the right track by aligning innovation, sustainability and patient care in every detail of our structure,” concludes Roberto.
