A Santo André Village, located approximately seven hours from Porto Velho (RO), will receive an important transformation: a isolated microsystem generation and distribution.
The system will be installed by Energisa and will provide electricity for around 80 families from the village.
The announcement was made last Friday (19) on the same date as the National Indigenous Peoples Day.
The project is part of the program Light for All, from the Federal Government, which seeks expand access to electrical energy in remote regions of the Legal Amazon.
Another 500 families on indigenous lands have already benefited from the solar energy program, in addition to Aldeia Santo André. Another 200 installations are planned for 2024.
André Theobald, president of Energisa in Rondônia, expects the system to be in operation at the end of May. Furthermore, he also spoke about what this represents for the community.
“This development not only improves the quality of life of the village’s inhabitants but also represents an important step in the integration of sustainable technologies into traditional communities,” says Theobald.
