Risen, a module manufacturer with 39 years of history and 24 years of experience in the production of photovoltaic modules, has become a complete provider of energy solutions over the years, reinforcing its purpose of contributing to a more sustainable world.

Currently, the company offers Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) solutions through Risen Storage, a division originating from the former battery manufacturer SYL, acquired by Risen in 2018.

Founded in China in 2005, SYL was renamed Risen Storage in 2024. The company has over 20 years of experience in the development of lithium-ion batteries and 8 years in the integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Based on this extensive experience, Risen Storage brings to market the Helix and Grida microgrid solutions, which now form part of the manufacturer's portfolio, alongside the enclosure. All-in-One iCon (261 kWh), eFlex cabinets (836 kWh) and eTron containers (up to 5 MWh).

Microgrids: Risen Storage integrating solar energy and battery storage.

The growing demand for energy supply security, autonomy, and sustainability has led users to adopt solutions that integrate solar generation and storage.

Addressing this need, the Helix and Grida systems integrate, in addition to batteries, an intelligent control cabinet that allows for the coordinated operation of multiple energy sources — solar, batteries, electrical grid, and fuel or wind generators.

These systems feature bidirectional power converters (PCS), which allow batteries to charge and discharge from the grid, and also have a dedicated input for the photovoltaic system. Thus, the PV system can both charge the batteries with direct current (DC) and send energy to the grid using alternating current (AC).

The design allows for hybrid operation and automatic transition between on-grid and off-grid modes in just 10 milliseconds, thanks to the STS (Static Transfer Switch) module. This way, in the event of power grid failures, the loads can be powered by batteries, the photovoltaic system, or a generator.

Thus, for microgrid applications, Risen offers complete and modular solutions for all scenarios, with the Grida and Helix lines, recognized for their versatility and reliability.

The Helix has a storage capacity of 261 kWh, expandable up to 522 kWh, with a nominal power of 125 kW. Its versatility allows for up to three PV inputs, with four MPPTs and a power of 60 kWp each, totaling up to 180 kWp of photovoltaic modules. In addition, it is possible to connect a diesel or wind generator.

The Grida system consists of 215 kWh battery racks, expandable up to three units, reaching 645 kWh for a control cabinet with 100 kW of power. It also allows connection of 60 kWp to 180 kWp of photovoltaic modules and diesel generators.

The EMS (Energy Management System) of the Helix and Grida systems can receive remote commands via Risen Cloud, enabling configuration, adjustment of operating modes, and real-time monitoring of all system parameters.

Advanced control via EMS enables functions such as:

  • Peak shaving, valley filling, and capacity expansion;
  • Low and high voltage ride-through (LVRT/HVRT);
  • Reactive power compensation, harmonic suppression, and three-phase balancing.
