The demand for solar energy systems has been growing rapidly in Brazil. With the Ordinance no. 140 / 2022 of Inmetro, the photovoltaic solutions with hybrid inverters promise to attract even more consumer attention.

Inmetro Ordinance regulates hybrid inverters in Brazil

"At new rules guarantee greater reliability for consumers and a fairer market, since the products are subjected to rigorous quality and performance tests, bringing security to end consumers who are not very familiar with this type of equipment”, he analyzed Ariel Martins, technical Sales coordinator at Fronius from Brazil.

In force since March, the standard regulates technical requirements quality control, conformity assessment and the commercialization of hybrid inverters.

The document also highlights that all products, at the point of sale, must have the ENCE (National Energy Conservation Label), visible to the consumer, without its view being obstructed by any other information attached by suppliers.

According to Martins, among the prominent hybrid inverters on the market is the Fronius GEN 24, for example, which can operate both in on-grid mode and off-grid format.

The hybrid system design, utilizing the GEN 24 Plus, also offers two extra emergency power supply features.

"The PVPoint, a socket for single-phase loads of up to 3 kW, which provides electricity in the event of a power grid failure and allows the charging of small devices such as smartphones and laptops”, he said.

The second resource, called Full backup, maintains the energy supply for the entire house when there is a power outage from the grid.

“And to use the energy generated with maximum efficiency, the system has a monitoring tool Solar.web from Fronius, which allows you to identify and optimize the points of greatest electricity consumption”, highlighted the expert.

It also manages the supply of electricity from the sun or supplied by the battery, prioritizing the energy with the greatest availability at the time, to power the washing machine, dishwasher and other higher power appliances, avoiding the need to use additional energy from the public network.

“The photovoltaic and storage system was adapted to the needs of a family, but can be maximized in the future by installing additional storage modules, if there is an increase in consumption with the purchase of an electric car, for example,” he concluded.

Importance of the hybrid system

O hybrid photovoltaic system It is an option for consumers who live in isolated locations, who suffer from constant network interruptions or seek to reduce electricity bill expenses as much as possible.

According to Fronius, in the case of residential users, the Installation of the hybrid solar energy solution provides almost 100% energy self-sufficiency, significantly reducing the electricity bill.

It is possible to use 90% of the energy generated by the plant due to the energy storage system (batteries), which is activated at night and when there is little incidence of ultraviolet rays.

Curiosity

Did you know that one of older photovoltaic inverters from Fronius is it still in operation? The equipment has been in operation for over 23 years. Click here and check out more information.
