Tongwei Solar has been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal in 2024, achieving a score of 78%. This recognition marks the company as the only PV manufacturer globally to receive the award.
EcoVadis is a globally recognized standard for assessing corporate sustainability. Its structure, based on international benchmarks such as ISO 26000 and GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), includes 21 criteria in four main areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable purchasing.
Covering more than 220 industries and 180 countries, the standard is trusted by over 600 multinational corporations. Companies are ranked based on their overall score and percentage position, with the medal thresholds for 2024 set as follows:
- Platinum: Top 1% (80–100 points);
- Gold: Top 5% (72–79 points);
- Silver: Top 15% (64–71 points);
- Bronze: Top 50% (56–63 points).

Tongwei said it has incorporated ESG principles into its core strategy by establishing an Energy and ESG Management Committee on its Board of Directors. “With a focus on creating a positive impact, we have adopted ‘Together to Win’ as our guiding philosophy for sustainability. This mission reinforces our proactive approach to ESG practices and underscores our belief in mutual success with all stakeholders,” the manufacturer emphasized.
Recognitions and milestones
In total, the company has received more than 70 awards for its ESG achievements, including being named to the 2024 Fortune China ESG Influence List and the China ESG Listed Company Pioneer 100 for the second consecutive year.
Tongwei was also included in the 2024 S&P China Sustainability Yearbook with the highest sustainability scores and won first prize in the “Clean Energy Innovation” category in the UNIDO Global Call 2023 competition.
