BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) announced this Wednesday (27) the approval of a line of credit, initially in the order of R$ 180 million, for the Scala Data Centers.
The resource will enable the company to acquire a comprehensive portfolio of resources, including advanced machinery, industrial systems, IT (information technology) and automation equipment, as well as components manufactured domestically to promote the data center market.
The approval of the line should boost Scala's expansion projects, increasing Brazil's data processing, storage and distribution capacity. AndAmong the company's projects is the Tamboré Campus, in Barueri (SP), the largest in Latin America, with 450 MW of IT capacity.
In addition, Scala AI City, a data center city already announced for Eldorado do Sul (RS), will be designed to support massive loads focused on AI (Artificial Intelligence) training and inference.

According to the director of Productive Development, Innovation and Foreign Trade at BNDES, José Luís Gordon, the financing approved by the Brazilian bank seeks to strengthen the chain of new technologies in Brazil.
“In addition, the country, because it has a 90% clean and renewable energy matrix, is highly competitive in the world, considering that data centers require high energy consumption,” he highlighted.
Scala currently has over 300 MW of installed capacity and under development. Its infrastructure has over 6 GW of guaranteed energy connections to support future expansion and will be fully supplied by renewable and certified sources.
